Bunkbeds

Here's what I did:

  • Removed the closet doors

  • Disconnected the battery, then removed the inside closet lamp and its wiring

  • Measured and cut wood then built the frame

  • Built the wooden bunkbed frame directly inside the closet, one piece at a time

  • Cut the kids' crib and playpen mattresses to size.  We then used duct tape to seal the mattresses' water-resistant layers around the resized, reshaped foam.

  • Installed a child safety gate across the top bunk to keep Rain from falling or climbing out.  At first we had a pressure style gate, but was uneven and unstable and could be forced out if pulled or pushed in a certain way.  We replaced that with one that is connected to eye-hole screws that does not budge.

  • Our final touch was to use a staple gun to attach a padded crib-liner across the entry to the bottom bunk, so Billy won't scrape his belly when he climbs in and out.
This is my only picture in progress and it was taken near completion.
Billy taking a nap today, 9/7, on the bottom bunk.

Installed a Baseplate to tow the Honda CR-V

On this page, I'll post about what I'm learning by doing (I'm homeschooling myself since my conventional education left me retarded), although some of the best stuff I've probably already done, like install the baseplate on our car.  Thanks for your help, Tim!
